TikTok Ads Policy Guide: Avoiding Ad Rejections & Bans (2026)

TikTok is trying to protect its young user base. They have a zero-tolerance policy for certain "Direct Response" tactics that work on Facebook. If you copy-paste your FB ads, you will get banned.

In this "Mega-Authority" guide, we cover:

  1. The Big No-Nos: Before/After, zoomed-in body parts.
  2. Claims: Scientific vs Exaggerated.
  3. Creative Quality: Low res rejection.
  4. The Appeal Process.

Part 1: Visual Triggers (Banned)

  • Before & After: Strictly prohibited for Weight Loss and Skincare.
    • Fix: Show the "After" state and talk about the journey. Use "User Testimonial" style.
  • Zoomed-In Body Parts: Close up of acne, belly fat, etc.
    • Fix: Show the full face or full body.
  • Exposed Skin: Showing too much skin (even for swimsuits) can get flagged as "Sexually Suggestive."

Part 2: Text & Claims

  • "Get Rich Quick": Avoid "Make $1000/day."
    • Fix: "How I started my side hustle." (Focus on process, not result).
  • "Cure": Avoid "Cures Acne."
    • Fix: "Helps reduce appearance of blemishes."
  • Absolute Claims: "The #1 App." (Need proof).
    • Fix: "My favorite app." (Subjective opinion).

Part 3: Low Quality Ads

TikTok will reject ads simply for being "Ugly."

  • Text over safe zones: If your text is covered by the Like Button, it gets rejected.
  • Pixelated Video: Must be high res (720p+).
  • Audio Issues: Silent videos often get rejected. Always add a music track.

Part 4: What to do if Rejected?

  1. Read the reason: "Misleading Claims" vs "Adult Content."
  2. Edit: Don't just appeal. Fix the issue. remove the specific frame.
  3. Appeal: "I have removed the before/after frame. Please review."
  4. Do not spam appeals. If you get 5 rejections in a row, your Ad Account gets suspended.

Part 5: Summary & Checklist

Your Action Plan:

  1. Review common policy pitfalls with your creative team.
  2. Use TikTok's "Ad Preview" tool to check Safe Zones.
  3. Remove any "Before & After" slide comparisons.
  4. Soften your claims ("Helps with" instead of "Fixes").

Compliance is cheaper than a new account.
