LinkedIn Thought Leader Ads: Boosting Executive Profiles (2026)

"Corporate Comms" is dead. Nobody trusts the "Acme Corp" page saying: "We are delighted to announce..." People trust People. Thought Leader Ads allow you to put ad budget behind a post from your CEO, CTO, or Sales Rep.

In this "Mega-Authority" guide, we cover:

  1. The Psychology: Why they work.
  2. The Setup: Linking profiles.
  3. The Content: What to boost (Opinions vs News).
  4. The Strategy: Full Funnel Personal Brands.

Part 1: The Setup (Linking)

You cannot just boost anyone's post. They must be an employee.

  1. Campaign Manager: Assets -> Manage Identities / Thought Leaders.
  2. Request Access: Search for the employee's name.
  3. Employee Side: They get a notification to "Approve" the ad account.
  4. Once Approved: You can see their recent posts in the Ad Creator.

Part 2: What to Boost?

Do not boost their "Company Updates" (e.g., "Great quarter team!"). Boost their Opinions.

  • Example: "Why I think AI will replace SDRs in 2027."
  • Why: It starts a conversation. It builds authority.

Format: Plain Text + Selfie. (Authenticity wins).

Part 3: The Campaign Objective

  • Engagement: Best for likes/comments (Social Proof).
  • Video Views: Best for distribution.
  • Website Visits: You CAN add a CTA button to a Thought Leader Ad now. Use it to drive traffic to a blog post written by them.

Part 4: The Frequency Cap

Be careful. Seeing "Jane Doe" in your feed 10 times a day is creepy. Set strict Frequency Caps (1-2 per week). You want to feel "Omnipresent," not "Stalker."

Part 5: Summary & Checklist

Your Action Plan:

  1. Identify your internal influencers (CEO, Founders, Subject Matter Experts).
  2. Request access in Campaign Manager.
  3. Audit their recent posts for a "High Engagement" winner.
  4. Boost it with a small budget ($50/day).

Humanize the brand.
